Community Health Care | Muscatine

Located on the Muscatine Community College campus, this new $6 million Community Health Care clinic provides medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmaceutical services to the Muscatine community. The facility consolidates services CHC has offered locally since 2020 into one centralized location, improving access to affordable, high-quality care.

The project is the result of nearly 20 years of planning and collaboration among Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, local healthcare partners, community leaders, and philanthropic organizations. In addition to serving patients, the clinic creates unique opportunities for students by connecting education, healthcare access, and workforce development.

Bush Construction served as the general contractor, with design by Vantage Architects. The wood-framed building, constructed by our Bush Self-Perform team, includes exam rooms, dental suites, behavioral health spaces, and a pharmacy. A key feature is the sealed, colored concrete flooring throughout, achieved through careful protection and phased sealing during construction, delivering a durable, finished look at a reduced cost.

Cardiovascular Medicine – Moline

With top-notch patient care, Cardiovascular Medicine of Moline was growing at a rate that their existing facility could not keep up with. They were short on exam rooms, offices, and parking. CVM came to Bush Construction to deliver a turnkey construction project. Our full-service process included design, as well as pre and post-construction. The two-story addition included exam rooms and office space on the first floor and conference spaces, a sleep study lab and additional office space on the second floor. In addition, 121 additional parking spaces were added to the existing properties.

We were proud to help CVM make history as a part of this expansion project. One of new exam rooms became the home of the first Cardiac PETCT Omni Scanner in the USA! This technology makes it possible to better monitor therapy by showing smaller and clearer details.

Bush Construction worked closely with the CVM team during construction as they were still providing care to clients. Disruptions were kept to a minimum through thorough communication and work completed during non-business hours. Creative problem-solving was a must when faced with supply chain challenges during the life of this project. Our strong relationships with Tri-City Electric and Crawford Company allowed us to acquire temporary units and gear allowing CVM to remain operational, conducting business as usual.

Genesis West | Linear Accelerator

Genesis needed an update to their Linear Accelerator, which they replaced with a new one and hired Bush Construction to demolish and renovate the room by replacing framing, drywall, paint, flooring, and cabinets. Despite the manufacturer’s estimated 3-month duration for this project, Bush Construction and subcontractors completed the project in only 6 weeks, working closely together to achieve a schedule less than half the typical time, while also coordinating with hospital staff and minimizing noise in the occupied healthcare facility.

Midwest Medical Clinic

The Midwest Medical Clinic contains a lavish front office, followed by 10 exam rooms, procedure rooms, labs, and staff support areas. There is an additional 5500 SF of multiple medical office tenant spaces with dedicated entry options.

The Bush design team studied the path a typical patient would take at the facility to arrive at an efficient layout that is also scalable for future needs. Attention to aesthetics and visibility is one of the key drivers making this project a landmark establishment.

Vera French Carol Center

The work on the Vera French Carol Center included the construction of a Workforce Recovery Centerย addition to add space for:

  • A New โ€œFront Doorโ€ & Elevator to make the Carol Center more inviting and accessible
  • Expansion of Supported Employment with additional staff and training space
  • Co-Location of Partners for Workforce Recovery potentially including Iowa Workforce Development, Vocational Rehab, transportation providers, childcare providers, & Veterans Administration.
  • Provision of Retail Space for Businesses to staff persons re-entering the workforce and possibly retail space for startups run by entrepreneurs through the Carol Center Clubhouse.

Eagle View Community Health

Our team at Bush Construction worked with IDEA Architecture and remodeled an old theater into a healthcare facility for Eagle View Community Health. This health clinic is a full-service health center offering medical, dental, behavioral heath, and substance use services. To provide this range of treatments the building includes exam rooms, dental hygiene stations, counsel offices, and includes an in-house medical lab.

Animal Family Veterinary Care Center

Animal Family Veterinary Care Centerโ€™s growth was outpacing the size of their facility. Our design and construction teams helped to find solutions through renovations of two adjacent facilities and a small addition. The team converted their existing, partially vacant โ€œnorth buildingโ€ into a state-of-the-art grooming, boarding, and training facility. The goal of all client-facing areas was to be friendly and inviting while all employee-facing areas were to provide facilities that prepare the AFVCC team for the future of veterinary care.

Phase two of the project was to utilize existing ward spaces and convert them into all-new medical and dental treatment spaces. The addition portion of the project was to provide new ward spaces for treated animals. The completion of phase two represented a total transformation of the entire campus, complimented by the already completed play area.

Genesis Health Systems | Birth Center

The renovation of Genesis East Health Systemโ€™s entire fifth floor for their new Birth Center included complete flooring replacement, new millwork, paint and wall coverings in the corridors, public areas, and in 31 patient rooms, as well as, plumbing and electrical upgrades throughout. TVโ€™s were also installed in all patient and waiting rooms. Room renovation included several different room styles. Rooms were completed in multiple phases (two rooms per phase), in order to keep the majority of the rooms in operation during construction. Daily coordination with the owner and nursing staff was required in planning all activities as this was a functioning hospital environment.
