EveryChild
The Bush Construction Design-Build team renovated EveryChild’s new facility in Rock Island, transforming an existing building into a safe, welcoming, and confidential environment that supports the organization’s continued growth across the Quad Cities. The project helps EveryChild provide prevention, education, and treatment services to nearly 8,000 children and families each year.
The renovation was thoughtfully designed using trauma-informed design principles to create an environment where children and families feel safe, supported, and respected. Research-informed strategies—including access to natural daylight, acoustic privacy, and carefully planned spaces that promote comfort and confidentiality—create a welcoming experience for clients while supporting staff and providing flexibility for future growth.

Working within an existing structure required adaptability throughout construction, as unforeseen conditions were uncovered during demolition. One significant challenge involved existing plumbing conflicts that impacted the planned restroom layout. Bush Construction collaborated closely with our design team to develop a solution that maintained code compliance while minimizing impacts to the overall design and functionality of the space. Projects like EveryChild require more than construction expertise—they require thoughtful planning, collaboration, and an understanding of how the built environment can support healing, privacy, and day-to-day operations.
Completed within budget, the renovated facility provides EveryChild with a modern, flexible environment that supports its staff while creating a safe, welcoming space for children and families throughout the Quad Cities.
