Davenport Central Fire Station

The Davenport Central Fire Station was originally built in 1902. The main building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This fire station is the oldest operating fire station west of the Mississippi River. Over the course of its life, the Davenport Central Fire Station has had two additions, 1940 and 1951, and several renovations. Because of its age, space and access problems, the City of Davenport hired Bush Construction as Construction Manager to demolish the 1940s – 1950s additions, to build a 20,000 SF innovative and modern addition, as well as to renovate the 10,000 SF original historical section of this facility in accordance to historical regulations.

Davenport Community School District | Children’s Village West

This Davenport Community School District project successfully converted the existing Davenport Museum of Art Building into a new Infant to Kindergarten daycare facility called the Children’s Village West. The project consisted of a complete interior demolition and remodel of all floors and also featured a large main entrance addition. All mechanical and electrical systems were upgraded. A complete fire alarm and sprinkler system were also added. The exterior facade was restored with all new windows, flashings, membrane roofing, and tuckpointing/caulking.

Quad Cities Multi-Modal Station

The Quad Cities Multi-Modal Station was a renovation, plus an addition, to the old Sears warehouse. The station included a bus drop-off, bike parking, and future train station addition. Every detail had to be approved on a state and federal level as the development was a historic project with the National Park Service and Illinois Historic Society of Reconstruction.

MetroLINK | Transit Maintenance Facility

MetroLINK, Rock Island County’s Metropolitan Mass Transit bus service, needed a larger, updated space. This $22 million, 150,000 SF facility houses all MetroLINK’s administrative and maintenance offices, training areas and fitness center. Diesel & CNG fueling, paint booths, vehicle lifts, a bus wash, vehicle lubrication system, a methane gas detection system and cranes and lifts were some of the components of this project.

The goal of this project was to create a LEED Silver Certified facility featuring a PV Solar Array System, a Solar Thermal Hot Water System, a Water Reclamation System at the bus wash, bio-swales, native grasses, management of construction waste, and the use of recycled materials.

The Maintenance Facility also featured some unique systems such as Diesel & CNG Fueling and Management Systems, paint booths, vehicle lifts, cranes & hoists, a Bus Wash System, Vehicle Lubrication Systems, and a Methane Gas Detection System.

Due to the Owner’s desire for sustainable construction and the unique function of the completed building, there were many challenging components associated with this project. With the help of our highly regarded team of subcontractors and suppliers, who are recognized leaders in their respective fields, Bush Construction rose to the challenge.
