Michael Johnson Named President of Bush Construction

Bush Construction has named Michael Johnson as President, officially removing the interim designation he has held since August 2025.

Johnson steps into the role following a period of steady leadership and operational continuity. He will continue to guide the company’s strategic direction, team development, and client experience across all markets.

“Michael has done an outstanding job leading the business over the past several months,” said Mike Bush, CEO of McCarthy-Bush Corporation, the parent company of Bush Construction. “He brings a unique combination of operational discipline, technical expertise, and a strong focus on people. We have full confidence in his leadership as he continues to build on the momentum at Bush Construction.”

Johnson brings more than a decade of experience with Bush Construction. He joined the company in 2014 as a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager after earning his Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois and beginning his career with Legat Architects. Since then, he has held multiple leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer, developing a deep understanding of the company’s operations, people, and long-term strategy.

In recent years, Bush Construction has expanded its design-build and development capabilities, including the acquisition of a Saint Louis-based design and development firm in 2024—an initiative Johnson played a key role in shaping.

His background in architecture and operations continues to shape Bush’s integrated approach, connecting development, architecture, and construction to deliver stronger outcomes.

“I’m honored to step into the role of President and continue working alongside such a strong team,” said Johnson. “Our focus remains on delivering a great experience for our clients and building on the foundation that makes Bush Construction successful.”

A licensed architect in multiple states, Johnson is active in both professional and community organizations. He serves on the Renew Moline Board and the Putnam Museum Finance Committee and is engaged in the regional EOS community.
